Now on the second part of my trip, sitting in an Internet Cafe at the beautiful city of Sarajevo after 3 amazing days on Banja Luka in Republika Serpska.

I was a bit worried before I came here, because this is the first time for me to visit a big muslim city outside of Israel, but the experience is absolutely awesome.

Sarajevo is a mystical city, one of the most beautiful and spiritual that i've been to, and it is a very good measure to clear everything that you thought you knew about Islam. I couldn't really imagine a European version of Islam before I got here. Staying in Banja Luka I was trying to picture to myself a muslim city full of blondes – that just didn't seem to fit in my mind.

Now in Sarajevo I find myself curiously at home. Surrounded by an extremely interesting mixture of European culture and Islam, musks and shick cafes. Yesterday night I visited a nice cafe that reminded me of some of Berlin's shickest and most trendy hangouts but also had heavy Islamic and balcan imagery, music and atmosphere. The visitors were everything from alternative looking people to devout looking muslims wearing Hijabs. For me, this kind of combination was far from trivial and as someone from Israel this gives me a new perspective on Islam and a new model model for a multicultural existence (Though one also has to remember of course the siege of 1992-1995).
